The Material
Zirconium machines like titanium's slightly softer sibling. Polish it to a mirror, bring it up to temperature with a torch, and the surface converts to a deep obsidian-black oxide.
Nothing plated. Nothing coated. The black is the metal itself, transformed — and it wears harder than the raw polished form. It can't flake off, because there's nothing on top to flake.
The Action
Every bolt action we build gets checked by hand. This one set a new bar. The slider tracks its channel with no slop, no grit — just a clean throw and a firm seat.

If you picked up the Zirconium Click Pencil last fall, this is the pen that goes next to it. Same metal. Same process. Same flame-anodized black.

Straight Talk
We'd rather you hear it from us. The clip is thin — same dimensions as every bolt action clip we make — and in zirconium, it bends fairly easily. It's not at real risk of breaking off. Think of it as mostly cosmetic.
If you'll carry this pen clipped in a jeans pocket every day and you own one of our titanium bolt actions, swap the titanium clip over. They're interchangeable.
The Run
We machined parts for 50 pens and used every zirconium cone in the shop. Between now and noon Friday we're polishing, flaming, and assembling. Only the pens that pass final inspection go up for sale.
Whatever count you see at noon is everything that survived. The next run is at least a couple of months out.

It ships with a Pilot G-2 installed. The adjustable internals — refill adapter, long set screw, and narrow spring — accommodate various refills. Set it once and forget it.
No. It's a heat-anodized oxide of the metal itself — the zirconium surface transformed, not covered. It wears harder than raw polished zirconium and can't flake off like a plating.
It's thin — same dimensions as our other bolt action clips — and zirconium bends more easily than titanium. It's not going to break off; treat it as mostly cosmetic. If you own one of our titanium bolt actions, the clips are interchangeable — swap the titanium one over for daily pocket carry.
